The infrequent lipodystrophies have been very present in the International Congress of Laminopathies that from 3 to 5 September has been celebrated in London (United Kingdom) and that has brought together researchers, doctors and patients. In fact, the International Association of Relatives and People Affected by Lipodystrophy (AELIP) has been invited as an international reference for people affected by this pathology in this event that has allowed the exchange of experiences and knowledge.
The conference was attended by AELIP, which presented its experiences and the working model it develops in favour of families and people living with lipodystrophy throughout the world.
On behalf of AELIP participated its president, Naca Eulalia Pérez de Tudela who was also accompanied by the board member David Araujo Vilar who gave a lecture on lipodystrophic laminopathies.
The session has allowed AELIP to be known in this international forum and to explain the services it provides for the care of affected people and their families, such as the Lipodystrophy Information and Guidance Service or the psychological support service. He has also become aware of all the work carried out by the association, which is aimed, on the one hand, at promoting and supporting research and, on the other hand, at giving visibility to lipodystrophies through numerous activities and projects to bring these pathologies closer to the educational sphere and society in general.
The meeting also had the objective of consolidating alliances with different patient associations and establishing contacts for future alliances between AELIP and the associations that work in the field of Laminopathies.
