The Lipodystrophy Information and Guidance Service (SIOLIP) of the International Association of Relatives and People Affected by Lipodystrophy (AELIP) has attended about thirty consultations in the first eight months of this year.
This service has received more than thirty consultations related to these pathologies so far in 2019, both by health professionals, students as well as family and affected by Lipodystrophy.
The good positioning of AELIP's websites added to the fact that the entity has its website hosted in domains of Spain United Kingdom, France, Portugal and Germany, has allowed receiving queries from countries such as Mexico, Peru, Colombia, Argentina, Chile, Canada, United Kingdom, Italy, France and Germany among others.
70% of queries were received via web and email. The other 30% was completed with queries received via telephone calls and via whatsapp.
These data reflect, in the opinion of AELIP, the importance of being present on the Internet via web and social networks and of adapting this service to new technologies.
Infrequent lipodystrophies are ultra-rare diseases with a very low prevalence among the population, which makes it possible to speak of a great demand for the service if you analyze the number of consultations received in this time in proportion to the incidence of it.
People wishing to contact SIOLIP can do so through whatsapp on the telephone number +34 692 39 78 40; through the social networks in which AELIP is present (twitter, facebook or instagram); or via e-mail at info@aelip.org.
