A recent study published in OJRD by Professor Corinne Vigouroux's group at Sorbonne University, shows that treatment with human recombinant leptin in patients with both generalized and partial lipodystrophy results in improved personal perception of physical appearance and social relationships.
Although treatment with this drug is indicated to improve the co-morbidities associated with lipodystrophies (diabetes, dyslipemia, fatty liver), it is a proven fact that this group of ailments entails important changes in physical appearance that condition social stigmatization.
This is the first study that addresses this issue, which is undoubtedly relevant, and the beneficial effects of self-referring human recombinant leptin on it".
