AELIP participates in the 61st congress of the Spanish Society of Endocrinology and nutrition

The International Association of Relatives and Affected by Lipodystrophies AELIP, is participating in the 61st edition of the congress of the Spanish Society of Endocrinology and Nutrition that is being held virtually from Wednesday 14th October to Friday 16th October.

The annual SEEN Congress is the most important activity of this Society. It is a meeting point for members and other professionals related to the speciality and is the forum in which the most relevant scientific advances in Endocrinology and Nutrition are presented and discussed, with the participation of the attendees and high-level speakers.

This year, the circumstances arising from the health and social crisis caused by the Covid-19 epidemic have made it necessary for the congress to be held virtually. This modality is a challenge and an opportunity to explore new ways of communication and participation of members and attendees.

AELIP's participation is part of the activities planned in its training area and serves to disseminate its training material for health professionals in order to help in the diagnosis of the different types of Lipodystrophy.

To do this, within the virtual platform, AELIP has an online training stand where you can learn about the work that the entity develops on an annual basis, view its corporate video or know all the contact information.

The programme, which counted with a great attraction of speakers, also counted with the participation of the Reference Doctor in Lipodystrophies David Araujo-Vilar, responsible of the Endocrinology Service - Lipodystrophies Unit, Hospital Clínico Universitario de Santiago. Singular Centre for Research in Molecular Medicine and Chronic Diseases (CiMUS), University of Santiago de Compostela.

Dr. David Araujo presented an innovative paper entitled "UPDATE: "LIPODISTROPHIES: A RARE CHALLENGE" where he was able to explain in detail the different types of Lipodystrophies and the syndromes associated with them.

Naca Eulalia Pérez de Tudela Cánovas, wanted to thank the SEEN, and its President Irene Bretón for the opportunity to participate in this meeting that allows to distribute among endocrinologists the training material available in Lipodystrophies and to give visibility to these rare pathologies.
