The main objetive of the PSYCHOLOGICAL SUPPORT SERVICE (PAS) is the psychological intervention in lipodystrophies, being their recipients both the patients and their relatives. In the same way, a Psychological Care Service begins (face-to-face and online) which allows a comprehensive attention of the service users.

In a global way, we can describe three fundamental objectives that define the goals in a Psychological Support Service:

1. Alleviate emotional suffering.
2. Improve the way people act in a short term.
3. Reduce long-term negative psychological effects.
4. Acquire social tools and skills that allow us to maintain our psychic and emotional health.

From the Psychological Support Service, we will analyze your face-to-face or online consultation to establish how to help you, so that we will give you an answer that may include some simple questions to get to know you better and give the support you need.

Also, the efficient use and exchange of information through this tool, it represents an advance in the professional and personal relationship.

What are the advantages of the on-line intervention?

It is offered immediate, individualized and confidential attention.

The information is brought to those patients, relatives and caregivers who can not access it in person.

The consultation takes place in a familiar environment, your home or the place where you connect from the Internet, which favors the use of a space not biased for reasons of accessibility, whether by disability, gender, infrastructure…

It does not have the same expenses that originate in person.

Who is the Psychological Care Project for (PCP)?

The main objetive of the PSYCHOLOGICAL CARE PROJECT (PCP) is the psychological intervention in lipodystrophies, being their recipients both the patients and their relatives.

In the same way, a Psychological Care Service begins (face-to-face and online) which allows a comprehensive attention of the users of the service.

From this main objective, the specific objectives derived are:

  • Understand, listen and help service users
  • Promote visibility, the feeling of belonging to the collective against exclusion.
  • Maintain effective communication at a lower emotional cost.
  • Have the ability to understand and transmit understanding to the person who is being attended (empathy).
  • Help patients and relatives to manage the emotions that accompany the diagnosis of a lipodystrophy, the uncertainty of the prognosis, the non-existence of treatment, the loss of the way of life.
  • Help patients to become aware of their right to be or feel bad, since this facilitates the way out of painful emotions.
  • Motivate patients to express the nature of their emotions in a specific way, to name them.
  • Avoid social isolation.
  • Search and activate family and social support.
  • Prevent psychopathological alterations.

PERSONAL ATTENTION

-Identify somatic symptoms and/or psychological alterations that are perceived as a threat.

-Compensate, eliminate or attenuate those symptoms.

-Detect and maximize the resources of the patient, in order to decrease, eliminate or prevent their feeling of helplessness and uncertainty.

-Evaluate the need to refer another professional (pedagogue, psychiatrist, physiotherapist, etc).

-Apply psychological therapeutic techniques and methods that modify behaviors, emotions or thoughts that hinder the vital balance.

-Monitoring and advise to users in the short and long term
