The International Association of People Affected by Lipodystrophies and Their Relatives (AELIP) is joining the campaign that the Spanish Federation for Rare Diseases (FEDER) has launched for Rare Disease Day, which is aligned with the European Organisation forRare Diseases (EURORDIS), the Ibero-American Alliance for Rare Diseases (ALIBER), and Rare Diseases International (RDI).
This year, the campaign promoted in order to commemorate Rare Disease Day has the following for a slogan: “Rare diseases: a comprehensive challenge, a global challenge.” With it, the campaign hopes to emphasise the comprehensive challenge that rare diseases pose, since, due to their complexity and low prevalence, in order to prevent, diagnose, and treat them, it is necessary to havea high concentration of highly specialised cases, multidisciplinarity, and experience. At the same time, reference is made to the global challenge, because, although thousands of identified rare diseases exist that each face a wide variety of symptoms, they all face common problems that go beyond any border.
To make the campaign visible, FEDER counts on the support of Christian Gálvez,who has been part of the FEDER family since 2016 and who has shown extensive commitment beyond frameworks like Rare Disease Day.
Currently, Gálvez is a commissioner at the Leonardo da Vinci: The Faces of the Genius exhibition, and will give all of his profits to the Federation in order to contribute to the research of these diseases.
