AELIP Provides People Affected by Lipodystrophies and Their Families with a New Dietary Advice Service

The International Association of People Affected by Lipodystrophies and Their Relatives (AELIP) has made a new dietary advice service available to people affected by this disease and their relatives.

To get in contact, those interested can callor send a WhatsApp message to +34 692 39 78 40. Furthermore, they can also write or make an enquiry through the association’s contact form at http://www.aelip.co.uk/contacta.asp or, of course, in person at AELIP’s headquarters, located at 7 San Cristóbal Streetin Totana, Murcia.

The service is run by María González Rodríguez, who has a Ph.D. in Health Sciences, a Master’s in Food Science and Technology, and a Bachelor’s in Human Nutrition and Dietetics. Since 2007, she has worked in the Endocrinology and Nutrition Department at the University Clinical Hospital in Santiago de Compostela.

At the 6th Symposium on Lipodystrophies organised by AELIP, heldlast November, María González took part in the “Diet and Lipodystrophy” workshop as a speaker.

With this service, AELIP aims to offer people affected by lipodystrophies and their relatives the chance to get advice on suitable diets for people living with these diseases, always keeping in mind that lipodystrophies are progressive diseases for which there are currently no cures or treatments that can regenerate the lost fat tissue. Instead, the backbone of therapy is diet along with physical exercise.
