Doctor Hugo Hernán Abarca Barriga, from Peru, has joined the Lipodystrophy Advisory Committee of the International Association of People Affected by Lipodystrophies and Their Relatives (AELIP).
Doctor Abarca is a medical surgeon for the National University of San Antonio Abad in Cusco. He majored in Medical Genetics at the National University of San Marcos, and also has a Master’s in Genetics from the National University of San Marcos (Biological Sciences Department).
He is currently a professor of Applied Genetics in the Stomatology Department, a Paediatric Dentistry resident at the Scientific University of the South, a physician assistant at the Neomedic Medical Centre, and a Genetics and Embryology professor in the Human Medicine Department (Undergraduate, Ricardo Palma University).
Additionally, he is a physician assistant in the Department of Genetics and Inborn Errors of Metabolism at the National Institute of Child Health, Breña (Peru).
With him included, the Lipodystrophy Advisory Committee is made up of five professionals, whilst AELIP’s Committee of Experts is made up of ten.
