The Vice-President and Director of the International Association of Relatives and People Affected by Lipodystrophy (AELIP), Juan Carrión, and Dr. David Araújo, member of the expert committee, are holding the workshop "Diagnostic Guide for Lipodystrophy" in Lima (Peru) on 11 and 12 April.
The workshop will take place at the National Institute of Children's Health, at the "Ernesto Velit Granda" Endocrinology and Metabolism Service. The program includes tomorrow, Thursday, April 11, a keynote lecture by Dr. David Araújo on Berardinelli Seip Syndrome, where he will discuss its etiology, pathogenesis and clinical manifestations.
On Friday, the program will open with a presentation on the Diagnostic Guide for Lipodystrophy, followed by a presentation by Juan Carrión, from AELIP International. During this presentation, Carrión will talk about resources for the care of individuals and families with lipodystrophies.
In addition, the conference will close with a meeting with families living with lipodystrophies.
This training activity is part of the international cooperation project "Social and health intervention for professionals, families and people with lipodystrophies in Peru", which in a first phase already included a study of social and health needs of people and families living with a lipodystrophy in the area of Piura.
This international project has the collaboration and support for its development from the FCB World Penyes Federation, European Consortium of Lipodystrophies, Spanish Federation of Rare Diseases (FEDER), Ibero-American Alliance of Rare Diseases (ALIBER) and Spanish Society of Lipodystrophies (SEL).
