From January 16th to 18th the I Symposium of Lipodystrophies in Portugal is being held in Porto, organized by the Portuguese Delegation of the International Association of Relatives and Affected People of Lipodystrophies AELIP.
This meeting has been organized in collaboration with the mother and child center Do Norte and the professional team of the Unit of Thyroid and Metabolic Diseases UETEM of the Hospital Complex of the University of Santiago de Compostela led by the professor of medicine David Araujo-Vilar.
The training sessions, developed during yesterday, allowed more than 40 health professionals from the Centro Materno Infantil de Norte of the Hospital Complex of Porto, increase their expertise in the field of Lipodystrophies by learning more about the different types and subtypes of rare Lipodystrophies and the training material that AELIP implements to help in the diagnosis process such as the practical guide for the diagnosis and treatment of rare Lipodystrophies, the nutritional guide for Lipodystrophies and the Lipo-DDX APP available for free in both PlayStore and AppleStore.
On the day scheduled for January 18th and which is aimed at families and people affected in Portugal, those affected and their families will be able to learn about the social and health resources that AELIP makes available as well as meet other families and people affected in Portugal.
