A study published in The Journal of Clinical Endocrinology & Metabolism (JCEM) shows Effect of leptin treatment on survival in generalised and partial lipodystrophy.
Objective:
The aim of this study was to estimate the effect of metreleptin treatment on survival in patients with LG and PL.
Conclusions: Metreleptin treatment was associated with a 65% reduction in mortality risk (HR 0.348, 95% CI 0.134-0.900, P = 0.029) in patients with lipodystrophy syndromes despite increased disease severity in treated patients, supporting the view that metreleptin may have a positive impact on modifying disease course.
