The International Association of Relatives and Affected of Lipodystrophies AELIP, participated last January 14th in the Portuguese city of Porto in the Meeting of the Lipodystrophies Group organised by the Portuguese Society of Endocrinology, Diabetes and Metabolism.
The meeting brought together different health professionals to discuss topics such as What are Lipodystrophies and how to treat them.
The meeting also included a space reserved for patient associations in which the AELIP delegate, Maria Fernanda de Amorin, gave a presentation entitled "The vision of patients and patient associations" on the portfolio of services provided to families and individuals affected by lipodystrophy worldwide and highlighted the more than 334,000€ that this organisation has allocated since its foundation to research into these rare pathologies.
The members of the Board of Directors Maria Fernanda de Amorim and Dr. David Araujo-Vilar, who also spoke about the diagnostic tools for lipodystrophies such as the APP Lipo-DDX, travelled to Porto.
The President of AELIP would like to give special thanks to the Portuguese Society of Endocrinology, Diabetes and Metabolism for the opportunity to be present and to present the entity in an incomparable scientific and health framework, as well as to the colleagues Maria Fernanda de Amorim and David Araujo for travelling and representing AELIP in this meeting.
